My name is Brandon Rackler. My brother Jacob and I are the co-founders of Proud Pops Plumbing, Air, and Electric. I grew up in a family that built one of the most trusted home service companies here in San Antonio.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I want to share some of the changes we’ve been seeing in the home services industry (as the bankers like to call it!)—and what Jacob and I are fixing to do about it.
Our Pops started his career in air conditioning and plumbing back in 1974 at Harlandale (back when the trades were taught in high school) right here in San Antonio. Jacob and I started working with him while we were still in high school.
In 2001, we built a company around the values he taught us—caring for our community, our customers, and our coworkers—and created a business we were truly proud of.
Twenty-five years later, as Pops reached retirement age, Private Equity made him an offer that seemed ideal. He retired and sold the business. Jacob and I had already gone our separate ways to start our own companies. But after the papers were signed, things started to change. Promises were broken. Values we didn’t share began to undermine the heart of the business.
After a while, something just didn’t feel right. We missed working side by side. We missed the culture. We missed doing things the way Pops taught us. So we came back—and built Proud Pops, a company rooted in the same values we were raised on:
Today, we’re passing those same values down to our own sons, who are already working alongside us. If you’re not completely satisfied with the service you’re receiving from your current plumbing, heating, air conditioning, or electrical company, we’d love the opportunity to earn your trust.
You can call me at 210-CALL POP (210-225-5768).
We do business the old-fashioned way—where a person’s word is as good as a handshake, and a handshake is as strong as a contract.
I look forward to meeting you.
Gratefully,
Brandon Rackler
